When it comes about food in Morocco you can find color, diversity, strong smells and tastes. If one says that it is a place where one can eat very well it is too little to describe about the intense flavors; if one says that the food is extraordinary – it is still more, but as well not enough. One of best places to eat from are the Jemaa el Fnaa Market from Marrakesh. One should forget about the restaurants and look the places where the locals eat; those are where the freshest food can be found.
The most known types of cooked meals are the couscous cooked with vegetables, chicken or lamb; couscous and olives; tanjia – a special meal made of lamb meat; brain in sauce; cooked lamb heads and a kind of soup known as harira. This contains chick pea, lentil, onion, tomatoes, ginger and saffron. One can as well try here various combinations of fish with other sea fruits.
The main spice here is the cumin – it is added at all the soups and as well used with the cinnamon, the ginger, the sesame seeds and coriander. Enjoy!
