Far away from Himalaya, in the actual Tibet you will find what one cannot find in the rest of Asia. Boudhanath is the only place of pilgrimage for the Tibetan Buddhists. Tibet cannot be imagined without the Buddhism or without its well-known pilgrimages that make hundreds of bows along the hundreds of kilometers that they walk.
Boudhanath is located in the Kathmandu Valley, ten kilometers away from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. It is one of the most sacred places of the Buddhism, not just for the Tibetans but for all the Buddhists from Nepal – just the Swayambhunath can compete with them in this regard. It is one of the biggest round shape beehives and it is on the UNESCO patrimony.
Here there are over 50 “gompas” – the traditional houses of the Tibetans and various small shops with all kind of souvenirs for the tourists. On the street you can see women wearing some striped aprons, large hats and a lot of red dressed monks. Near the walls of the beehive there are long rounds of chairs, put together one next to another, on which the pilgrims that finish making the round of the beehive, make other series of bows. In the air, a religious emotions floats and this is deeper blending with the emotion of the pilgrims.
