Israel is one of those countries that look very interesting from afar, but one is afraid of trying to discover them. The main issue with Israel is that a person’s safety is slightly regarded as unsure.
Anyhow, the Ben Gurion airport from Israel is one of the safest from the world. You will pass through many security checks and as well an interview. You will feel like being followed till you exit those gates and you will no longer see so many guns all around you. Your baggage will be scanned and so will you. Therefore, coming here and landing in the airport you will most certainly feel secure. However, the difficult part is to get along alone here in these parts.
Going out of the airport you will feel exactly like you entered in a civilized country – this if you do not know of any conflict that resides nearby. It looks very European like and maybe even better than in other civilized areas in Europe.
This is not the case all other the place. In the areas that are farther from the downtown the dirt starts to be sizeable and the security not so big. If you go to a mall or to a more touristic area, you will be checked for sure. In these places everyone new is seen as a criminal, until he is checked and proved to be safe.
The conclusion is that there is no reason to feel unsure here as long as you keep the boundaries and do not walk during night time or stare at some weird stuff you may be thinking it happens. What you should keep in mind at all costs is the fact that no one insures your happiness – not even the foreign affairs ministry – the war is an industry and any one of us can fall in its trap. So, beware and weight your advantages and disadvantages.
