Castello di Pretoia is an enchanting hotel set in an ancient castle that lies between the hill stop of Gubbio in Umbria, Italy. History, art and gracious hospitality meet at Castle of Pretoria which offers and oasis of peace and tranquility, in a charmed and romantic atmosphere in a lovingly restored fortress. Dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries the building boast 13 private rooms with en-suite bathrooms, precious drapes and furniture and it features a 20 meters high tower which is now a romantic and fascinating room with amazing opened terrace right at the top. The main and the biggest structure used to be the house of a Noble family, full of antiques and equipped with a very nice library and the smaller building is where the castle’s guardians used to live.
The rooms are a real work of art with frescoes ceilings, wooden beams, stone arches which are still intact and original, I might add. They are decorated with antique furniture blending elegantly with the fine, warm atmosphere of the estate. Thanks to the surrounding 800 acres of pure, postcard-like landscape, guests have plenty of opportunities to enjoy their time. They can go dine at the hotel’s restaurant which serves the best food in the region, enjoy moment of peace while walking around the park or relax by the poolside.
