Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is the only hotel adjacent to the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and the perfect place to explore the beautiful surroundings. This hotel offers easy access to Machu Picchu from early morning to late afternoon when most of the day visitors and buses have left. This spectacular lodge has magnificent gardens with stunning views across the site and a perfect location to relax during your stay. Belmond Sanctuary is the only major alteration to the ruins’ isolated setting, but it is pretty sensitively inserted into the hill and it is not visible from the ruins themselves.
There is nature all around the resort, where variety of flowers and birds populate the area. Belmond Sanctuary Lodge also offers a range of massages and aromatherapy treatments that come hand in hand with Machu Picchu’s spiritual energy. The lodge consists of three types of room that varies in size and views. Rooms are not especially large, but they now have a good deal of Peruvian character, with some lovely modern furnishings, and most have small terraces that open to lovely gardens with impressive views of the ruins and the surrounding Andes. At first, this modern hotel was rather plain but overpriced before being taken by Belmond Hotels (formerly known as Orient-Express) which transformed it into a very pricey luxury lodge. It has, without doubt, one of the most dramatic and unique settings in the world.
