Hotel Antumalal surrounded by 12 acres of private gardens at the foot of a smoking volcano in Chile’s Lake District close to Villarica lake edge is a relaxing and luxurious hotel in which the natural beauty merges with quality services. The hotel is built on a wooden point overlooking the lake, between gardens, terraces and waterfalls.
The building kept its 1950s style and recent additions such as the pool and spa use wood, rock and cement blend harmoniously with the surroundings. Each bedroom has a wall-sized window which integrates the calming landscape perfectly. Hotel Antumalal remains an architectural jewelry and it represents a tribute to the Pucón area: “nature came first and the complimentary linear design was designed to frame and honor it”.
Construction began in 1945 on what was once a rocky outcrop. The owners were influenced by the Bauhaus style design and within five years they transformed the place into the magnificent building and stunning gardens we enjoy today. The explosion of colours dominates the Antumalal Park where beside waterfalls, natural volcanic pools and numerous pebbles path, one can also find a multitude of flowers like lobelia and asylum.
